6 JULY 2006 : KIMPACT X Gauntlet for the Gold


You are tuned in for the biggest moment in wrestling history. Tonight NWA TNA crowns its first NWA World Champion. This is Gauntlet for the Gold. You eliminate a wrestler by pinning them or making them submit. The NWA title is brought down to ringside in a glass case. America's Most Wanted's music plays and out comes Chris Harris. We learned last week Chris Harris would enter first after losing to Sting. Sting by fortune of his victory enters last at 20. Chris Harris is not happy about entering at number one as he waits on the man that drew number two. "Oh, you didn't know?" It's the returning BG James! He has a cast on his left arm but he looks ready to go. Harris wasn't expecting this. The crowd is amped. We are now underway.

Gauntlet for the Gold - NWA World Championship

BG and Harris circle each other. Harris goes behind BG and catches him with a shot to the back of the head. BG responds with a hip toss. Harris runs into a back elbow. Harris gets up. BG connects with a beautiful dropkick. What a flurry of offensive by BG. He hasn't lost a step. Inverted atomic drop on Harris. BG catches Harris with a running kneelift. Harris is down. BG goes for the Shake, Rattle, Kneedrop. Harris moves and BG misses. Harris attempts a big boot. BG ducks. BG nails Harris with the Shake, Rattle and Punch combo. It's time for entrant number three. Here comes Sharkboy. We have seen quite the mean streak in him lately. And Sharkboy was the one that started the injury in BG James' left arm. Look at the face-off between Sharkboy and BG. Chris Harris floors BG with a shot from behind. Sharkboy puts the boots to BG. Harris holds BG while Sharkboy measures him up. Sharkboy slaps BG hard across the face. Sharkboy measures for a crescent kick, BG moves and the kick connects on Harris. BG blasts Sharkboy with the cast on his left arm. Sharkboy looks to be knocked cold. BG James turns right into a spear by Harris. BG is up. Harris nails him with a crescent kick of his own. BG doesn't go down. Harris lifts him upward, hits the Catatonic. Cover by Harris. 1, 2, 3.

BG James is eliminated.

BG James is gone from this match. Sharkboy is getting to his feet. He catches BG James with a jumping arm breaker. BG is clutching his left arm. He is not right. Sharkboy had no right doing that. BG isn't even a part of this match anymore. Entrant number four is about to come out. It's "Mr TNA" AJ Styles. Sharkboy is trying to get Chris Harris to team up. AJ springboards off the ropes and takes both Harris and Sharkboy down with a front dropkick: one foot for each. AJ blasts Harris with a discus clothesline. AJ ducks a clothesline by Sharkboy. AJ springboards backwards off the ropes and hits the Styling DDT on Sharkboy. Harris catches AJ from behind with a forearm to the back of the head. Harris picks Sharkboy up to his feet. He tells him something. Sharkboy climbs to the top turn buckle. Harris lifts AJ up for a suplex. Sharkboy comes off the top with a cross body on AJ and Harris suplex AJ at the same time. Sharkboy and Chris Harris both go for the cover on AJ Styles at the same time. Sharkboy and Harris exchange words. Sharkboy shoves Harris. Sharkboy decks Harris. Harris swings at Sharkboy, but Sharkboy ducks. Sharkboy nails Harris with a kick to the groin. Sharkboy pushes Harris back into the corner. He climbs the turnbuckles. He sets up for the DSD. AJ climbs the ropes and leaps off with a kick to the side of Sharkboy's head. Sharkboy falls backwards onto the concrete floor. Chris Sabin, entrant number five, hits the ring. AJ Styles hits Harris with a Death Valley Driver. Cover on Harris. 1, 2, he barely kicks out. Chris Sabin and AJ Styles square off. Sabin catches AJ with a right, AJ nails Sabin with a chop. AJ tries a dropkick, Sabin swats AJ away. Sabin attempts an enziguri, AJ ducks. AJ tries a sweep kick, Sabin backflips out of the way. AJ tries for a Pele Kick, Sabin side-steps him. Sabin nails a spinning back kick to the midsection. Sabin hits the ropes for a clothesline, AJ ducks. AJ goes for a hip toss, Sabin lands on his feet. Sabin back leg trips AJ. Both wrestlers stand toe to toe. The inmates at the Asylum applaud the exchange by both men. Sabin turns around into a Chris Harris spear. Sharkboy slides into the ring. Sharkboy hits the "Shark Bait" stunner on Sabin. Cover. 1, 2, 3.

Chris Sabin is eliminated.

Sharkboy gained a measure of revenge on Sabin. Sharkboy attempts a crucifix on AJ. AJ won't go down. Harris clotheslines AJ and Sharkboy takes him down for the pin. AJ kicks out at 2. Entrant number 6 is Elix Skipper. The odds don't look good for AJ Styles. AJ backdrops Harris over the top rope to the outside. AJ rolls under a right hand by Sharkboy but gets nailed by a roundhouse kick by Elix Skipper. Skipper pushes AJ into a corner and starts stomping away on him. Skipper sets AJ on the top turnbuckle. Skipper leaps up to the top rope. He walks the top rope and then snaps off a hurricanrana. Sharkboy rushes to cover AJ Styles. Elix Skipper breaks it up. He doesn't want Sharkboy stealing his thunder. They exchange words. Sharkboy slaps Skipper. Sharkboy fires off a right hand on Skipper. Sharkboy goes for a clothesline. Skipper does the Matrix and Sharkboy misses. Skipper leapfrogs Sharkboy who rebounds off the ropes. Skipper catches him with a tilt-a-whirl bodyslam. Entrant number 7 is Ron "The Truth" Killings. AJ Styles gets to his feet. Elix Skipper turns around and AJ blasts him with a wheel kick. Cover. 1, 2, 3.

"Primetime" Elix Skipper has been eliminated.

Ron Killings tosses Chris Harris back into the ring. Harris backs off from Killings. He lures Killings in with a knee to the midsection and a forearm to the back. AJ nails Sharkboy with a chop. Sharkboy hits a headbutt to the midsection. He goes for a "Shark Bait" stunner. AJ pushes him off. Sharkboy rebounds off the ropes. AJ catches him with a perfect dropkick. Harris drives Killings into the corner. Harris chokes Killings. Harris backs up. He charges for a clothesline. Killings moves out of the corner. Harris slams into it. Killings reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a pair of handcuffs. Harris planted them on Killings at Unbreakable. Killings blasts Harris with the handcuffs. Pin. 1, 2, 3.

Chris Harris has been eliminated.

What sweet revenge by Ron Killings. AMW may have cost Konnan and Ron "The Truth" Killings a shot at the tag titles at Unbreakable. Here tonight, Ron Killings cost Chris Harris the NWA title. Killings goes behind AJ. Waistlock take down. AJ sits out. AJ breaks it up with a back elbow. AJ runs the ropes. Killings with a back body drop but AJ lands on his feet. AJ ducks a right hand by Sharkboy. AJ springs backwards for a Styling DDT on Sharkboy. Killings with a "Truth Serum" jumping side kick on AJ. Entrant 8 is the Sandman. Sandman and Killings trade right hands. Killings misses a right and Sandman hits a backdrop suplex. Sandman stands over Killings and hits him in the head with crossfaces. AJ leaps over the back of Sandman and connects with a sunset flip. Roll through. AJ sets up for a Styles Clash. Sharkboy breaks it up with an overhead chop to AJ. Sandman scores with a DDT on AJ. Sharkboy with a flying body press on Killings. Sandman slaps on the Joe Camel Clutch on AJ. AJ won't submit. Sandman releases the hold. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a pack of smokes. He lights one up. AJ is lying underneath Sandman. AJ turns over and hooks Sandman in a sunset pin. Sandman burns AJ with the cigarette and it breaks up the pin. Sandman takes AJ down with a powerful clothesline. Sharkboy nails Killings with a swinging neckbreaker. "Macho Man" Randy Savage is entrant number 9. Savage climbs the turnbuckle. He comes out and nails Sharkboy with a double axe handle. He climbs another turnbuckle and nails Sandman with a double axe handle. Killings gets to his feet. He and Savage go face to face. Ron Killings brought Randy Savage to TNA. These two men are friends. They have teamed before. Savage nails Killings with an elbow smash to the head. Savage whips Killings into the ropes and hits a monkey flip on Killings. Sharkboy nails AJ with a standing dropkick. Savage hits a pair of right hands and an elbow smash to the top of the head. Sharkboy nails Savage in the back of the head with a right hand. Sharkboy catches Savage with a hangman's neckbreaker. Killings with a spinebuster on Sandman. Here comes entrant number 10. We are halfway through. Oh no! It's the monster, Abyss! Sharkboy dropkicks AJ Styles over the top rope to the outside. Abyss heads to the ring. He turns AJ Styles inside out with a brutal clothesline. Abyss climbs into the ring. Savage gets up and decks Abyss. Abyss doesn't budge. Abyss floors Savage with a headbutt. Abyss with a one hand chokeslam on Sharkboy. Killings fires off on Abyss. Abyss ducks the "Truth Serum" by Killings. Abyss takes Killings down with a big boot. Sandman blasts Abyss from behind. Sandman catches Abyss with a forearm. Abyss pushes Sandman off. Sandman charges Abyss. Abyss catches Sandman with the Black Hole Slam. 1, 2, 3.

Sandman has been eliminated.

Savage leaps off the turnbuckles using a double axe handle that staggers Abyss. Savage climbs the turnbuckle again for maybe another double axe handle. Abyss catches him with a Black Hole slam in mid-air. 1, 2, 3.

"Macho Man" has been eliminated.

Sharkboy tries to run from the ring. Abyss grabs him. Abyss hits the Shock Treatment on Sharkboy. 1, 2, 3.

Sharkboy has been eliminated.

Abyss has just eliminated 3 top competitors in a matter of minutes. Abyss picks Ron Killings up to his feet as entrant number 11 marks his entrance. Who is that? That must be Shane Douglas's mystery ECW wrestler. It's Mike Awesome! Mike Awesome, former ECW champion, makes his NWA-TNA debut. Abyss almost looks stunned. Awesome takes a limp Ron Killings out of the hands of Abyss. Awesome with a brutal running Awesome bomb on Killings. 1, 2, 3.

Ron "The Truth" Killings has been eliminated.

Awesome and Abyss face off. These two huge men are ready to go. The crowd wants to see them go at it. Abyss fires off a right hand on Awesome. Awesome fires off a right hand on Abyss. Awesome with a knee lift to Abyss' mid-section. He pulls Abyss to the mat by his hair. Awesome with a huge gut wrench suplex on Abyss. Awesome with a power slam on Abyss. Awesome lifts Abyss up for a running Awesome bomb. Cover on Abyss. 1, 2, Abyss kicks out. Awesome can't believe it! Out of nowhere Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam on Awesome. It's about time for entrant 12. Abyss hits another Black Hole Slam on Awesome. 1, 2, 3.

Mike Awesome has been eliminated.

It's Jeffy Hardy! Hardy is number 12. Abyss is going nuts. Hardy races to the ring. Hardy takes Abyss down with a double leg take down. He mounts Abyss and nails several punches. What a history between these two men. AJ Styles slides back into the ring. AJ and Hardy are the Tag Team Champions. They shake hands. Hardy nails Abyss with a front drop kick. AJ springboards off the ropes with a forearm to Abyss. Abyss punches AJ. Abyss blocks the Side Effect by Hardy with a back elbow. AJ nails Abyss with the Pele out of nowhere. Hardy with the Twist of Fate on Abyss. AJ and Hardy cover Abyss at the same time. 1, 2, 3.

Abyss has been eliminated.

The Tag Team Champions have just beaten and eliminated Abyss. It is now Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles. AJ doesn't want to fight his friend. AJ turns his back to Hardy, looking for entrant 13. Hardy rolls AJ up from behind. 1, 2, AJ kicks out. AJ looks upset at Hardy. AJ nails Hardy with a brutal wheel kick. Entrant number 13 is Christopher Daniels. AJ hits the Styles Clash on Hardy. Daniels breaks up the hold before the pin can be made. He hits the Angel's Wings on AJ. 1, 2, 3.

AJ Styles has been eliminated.

Daniels rolls Hardy up. 1, 2, 3.

Jeff Hardy has been eliminated.

"The Fallen Angel" has single handedly beaten both Tag Team Champions. Daniels is all alone in the ring. AJ and Hardy are exchanging heated words on the way to the back. Daniels sits on the top turnbuckle awaiting the next entrant. Entrant number 14 will be Konnan. Konnan will go one on one with Daniels for two minutes until entrant 15 comes out. Konnan takes Daniels down with a hip toss. Konnan with a Japanese arm drag. Konnan locks in an arm bar. Daniels turns out and connects with a Blue Thunder Drive. Konnan tries to whip Daniels into the ropes, Daniels reverses. Daniels catches Konnan with a knee to the mid-section. Daniels lifts Konnan onto his shoulders and drives Konnan into his knees with a gut-buster. Daniels slaps on a body scissors. Konnan escapes out of it with a wheel barrow suplex. Konnan with a bulldog. Konnan climbs the turnbuckle. Daniels gets to his feet and shakes the ropes and Konnan slips on the turnbuckle. Daniels with a hurricanrana off the turnbuckles. Daniels leaps up and hits the BME on Konnan. Daniels goes out to the apron and hits a Slingshot leg drop. Here comes entrant 15. It's Shane Douglas. Daniels catches Douglas with a right hand. Daniels bounces off the ropes and takes Douglas down with an STO. Daniels counters a powerbomb into a DDT. Douglas nails Daniels with a brainbuster. Douglas with a gut wrench suplex on Konnan. Daniels catches Douglas with a step up enziguri. Number 16 will be... Raven! It's Raven. He has a massive score to settle with Shane Douglas. Shane looks beside himself. Raven makes a beeline for Shane Douglas. Raven fires off stiff right hands on Douglas. Make it a baker's dozen. Daniels picks Konnan up to his feet. He nails the Angel's Wings on Konnan. 1, 2, 3.

Konnan has been eliminated.

Raven tosses Daniels from the ring. He wants Douglas to himself. Douglas tries to run. Raven pulls him back into the ring by his leg. He nearly beheads him with a clothesline. Raven whips Douglas into the corner. He follows up with a clothesline and quickly hits a bulldog. Daniels slides back into the ring. Raven tosses him over the top rope. Douglas comes behind Raven and kicks him in the groin. Douglas quickly runs from the ring to the outside. Jeff Jarrett makes his way to the ring. He is number 17. Jarrett puts the boots to Raven. Daniels slips back into the ring. Douglas stops on the outside. Jarrett holds Raven and Daniels pummels him. Double suplex by Jarrett and Daniels. Daniels holds Raven while Jarrett chokes him. Daniels and Jarrett whip Raven into the ropes. Raven holds onto the ropes and Jarrett and Daniels both miss the double dropkick. Raven charges with a double clothesline. Jarrett and Daniels are down. Raven runs the ropes but Douglas trips him up. Daniels sets up the Angel's Wings. Raven blocks and backdrops Daniels into Jarrett. Entrant number 18 is Kanyon. He goes after Douglas, who is standing at ringside. Raven catches Daniels with a high angle belly to back suplex. Cover. 1, 2, 3.

Christopher Daniels has been eliminated.

Douglas slams Kanyon head first into the steel ring post. Kanyon seems to have been knocked out. Douglas tosses him into the ring. Douglas climbs back into the ring. Jarrett attempts the Stroke on Raven. Raven reverses it into a short arm clothesline. Douglas slaps a figure four on Kanyon. He is still out cold. Ref rings the bell. Kanyon is out. Kanyon has been eliminated. It's now 2 on 2 for Raven. Douglas holds Raven by the feet while Jarrett drop kicks him down. Jarrett with a suplex on Raven. Double clothesline on Raven. Douglas and Jarrett tee off on Raven, alternating punches. Raven ducks and Douglas and Jarrett punch each other. Douglas pushes down Jarrett. Raven drop kicks Douglas into Jarrett. Douglas catches a right from Jarrett. Jarrett kicks Douglas in the mid-section. He leapfrogs Douglas. He lands right into an inverted atomic drop by Raven Jarrett ducks a right from Raven. Raven runs into Douglas who backdrops Raven over the ropes. Raven lands on the apron. Raven blocks a right by Douglas. He hangs Douglas' throat on the top rope. Jarrett sets up for the stroke. Douglas blocks by holding onto the ropes. Jarrett crashes face first on the mat. Entrant 19 is James Storm. Storm decks Douglas. Storm attempts a bulldog. Douglas pushes him off into an overhead belly to belly throw by Raven. Jarrett with a swinging neck breaker on Raven. Douglas with a jumping knee smash to Jarrett's face. Raven drives Storm head first into the top turnbuckle. Raven climbs the turnbuckles. He leaps off buy Storm catches Raven in midair with a spear. Storm goes for the cover. Raven manages to kick out at 2. Jarrett turns right into a belly to belly by Douglas. Cover. 1, 2, James Storm breaks up the pin. Why would he do that? Storm just saved Jarrett from elimination. Storm superkicks Douglas. We all know who number 20 is. STING! Storm picks Jarrett to his feet. Sting is racing to the ring. He wants a piece of Jarrett. Sting is ready. Jarrett pushes Storm into Sting. Sting hits the Scorpion Deathdrop on Storm. 1, 2, 3.

James Storm is eliminated.

We are down to the final four. One of these four men will by NWA champion. Jarrett looks stunned. Jarrett tries to run. Sting whips him into the corner. Sting goes for the Stinger Splash. Jarrett moves. Sting hits the corner. Jarrett bails from the ring. He is running from Sting. Sting chases him. Sting is stalking him. Jeff Jarrett runs to the back. Sting follows. Shane Douglas and Raven are left alone in the ring. Both men look spent. We now go to the back. A car is waiting outside in the parking lot. Chris Harris is driving. He tells Jarrett to get in. Sting is chasing him. Jarrett gets in the car. It pulls off. Storm attacks Sting from behind. Sting is trying to fend him off. Storm picks up an empty beer bottle and smashes it over Sting's head. Sting is bleeding. He needs medical help. The car carrying Jarrett and Harris pulls back up. Storm jumps in and the car speeds away. Medical staff has come to attend to Sting. We have word that Sting and Jeff Jarrett have officially been eliminated. It has come down to Raven and Shane Douglas. One of these men will be the first NWA-TNA World Champion. Raven and Douglas get to their feet. Douglas slugs Raven. Raven slugs Douglas. Douglas boots Raven in the mid-section. Douglas picks Raven up and drives him down with a brutal brainbuster. Cover on Raven, 1, 2. Raven gets the foot on the ropes. Douglas takes Raven down with a bow and arrow submission. Raven gets out of it with a back elbow. He floors Douglas with a European uppercut. Raven slaps an ankle lock on Douglas. Mike Awesome and Sandman head down to ringside. Douglas is in pain but he won't tap. Douglas reaches the rope. Raven pulls Douglas off the ropes. Ankle locked but still locked in. Douglas taps! But the ref doesn't see it because Sandman has the ref distracted. Mike Awesome has a steel chair. He climbs the turnbuckle. He blasts Raven with a super chair shot off the top. Douglas gets to his feet. He hits the Pittsburgh Plunge. 1, 2, 3.

Shane Douglas pins Raven.

Your winner and the first NWA-TNA Champion, Shane Douglas. Sandman blasts the glass case with his Kendo stick. He pulls out the NWA title. Awesome and Sandman climb in the ring and Sandman presents the title to Shane Douglas. Wait a minute. Do you remember what happened the last time Shane Douglas held the NWA title? Douglas has a mic. Oh no.

"Ah. I almost forgot what this belt looks like. It's been a long time since I held it. Here we go. This belt represents a history. This belt has been held by the likes of Harley Race, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat. The NWA title represents tradition. I say screw tradition! Forget the past. We don't need to dig up these fossils. Ric Flair didn't have any balls to accept my challenge back then and he is scared of me now. Shane Douglas is the future of the wrestling business. I am the Franchise. No, I'm not going to throw this belt down. I'm taking it to places it never has been."

Mike Awesome and Sandman hoist Shane Douglas up on their shoulders. He raises the NWA title. What does this mean for the future of NWA-TNA?
